Complaints Policy

The Merthyr Pioneer aims to maintain high editorial standards across everything we publish. While our content may include a mixture of reporting, commentary, satire, and cultural writing, we strive to ensure that material intended to be factual is accurate and responsibly presented.

However, mistakes can happen. When they do, we believe in addressing them openly and correcting them where appropriate.

How to Make a Complaint

If you are unhappy about something we have published because you believe it is inaccurate, misleading, or does not meet appropriate editorial standards, you can submit a complaint.

Please email editor@merthyrpioneer.co.uk within three months of the article being published.

When submitting a complaint, please include the following information:

  • Your name (and the name of the organisation you represent, if applicable)
  • Your contact email address and telephone number
  • The title and URL of the article you are referring to
  • A clear description of your complaint, including the specific words, phrases, or sections you believe are inaccurate or problematic
  • An explanation of why you believe the material should be corrected or addressed

Providing this information will help us investigate the issue more quickly.

How We Handle Complaints

When we receive a complaint, it will be reviewed by the editor of The Merthyr Pioneer. Where appropriate, the matter may also be discussed with the author of the article or any contributors involved.

We aim to acknowledge and respond to complaints within three weeks of receiving them.

If we conclude that a correction, clarification, or apology is required, we will publish it as soon as reasonably possible. This may involve updating the article, adding a correction note, or publishing a separate clarification where appropriate.

Handling of Personal Information

Any personal information submitted as part of a complaint will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
